NEW DELHI To make bus rides safer for women, a global human rights organization —Breakthrough— started a campaign on Saturday to initiate a discussion between government, transport organizations and civil society to restore women’s faith in accessing public transport.
The campaign is an initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day aimed at creating a safe and secure environment for women.
“As a part of the campaign, we will reach out to women across all sections to come together, make them board a bus and show the city through pictures, text and video that they are reclaiming the space on the public transport that is rightfully theirs. The idea is to create a platform where they share their experiences, voice their concerns and offer solutions that create safer and more secured environment for them,” said Sonali Khan, vice-president, Breakthrough.
