Jamilah King is a Brooklyn-based writer originally from San Francisco. Currently the Race and Justice Reporter at Mother Jones, her writing focuses on race, gender, and culture. She was previously a senior staff writer at Mic and a senior editor at Colorlines. Most recently, she traveled the country with Spotify to hold town hall meetings on key issues in the 2016 presidential election. Her commentary has been adapted by Alicia Keys and Beyonce for the award-winning video #23Ways, and her writing has also appeared in the Washington Post, the California Sunday Magazine, Salon, Fusion.
