cropped inspiration awards invite

What an incredible evening we had. I am still tingling with energy—and gratitude.

20160429 Breakthrough Gala Initial Selects_134 copy

Everyone at the gala, onstage and off, was so generous with their stories. Dinesh and Ila Paliwal’s grace and inspiration. Will and Bill and Destiny’s commitments to being catalysts for change. Amy’s raw emotion, as she told us through her tears, “Thank you being here for those who cannot speak. And thank you for listening to the roar behind their tears.”

And everyone was record-smashingly generous in another way: Together we have–so far!–raised a stunning $800,000 to work toward our shared vision: making violence against women unacceptable.

But we’re not done yet! We set out to raise $1,000,000 towards our work and with your help we will get there. Your gift helps Breakthrough to reach more Wills and Bills, who are creating change on their college campuses. It helps us reach more Sanjays, who push for the rights of women and girls in their villages in India. It helps people like Destiny call others to action to challenge domestic violence. $1,000,000 for them, and all the people they reach. We can do this.

You can see videos from the event on Youtube, and photos on Facebook and Flickr. Thank you for your connection, your generosity, your kindness.

About the Breakthrough Inspiration Awards

The Breakthrough Inspiration Awards convene, inspire, engage, and enable leaders for change—from the CEO of a global corporation to young activists in Indiana—in our own worlds and beyond. You are building the Breakthrough Generation as a global movement for hope and action.

We are all part of the Breakthrough Generation. Only when we all stand together to make violence against women unacceptable everywhere can we build a world where everyone lives with dignity, equality, and justice.

Our benefit dinner brings together more than 400 leaders and social change actors—representing global media, financial services, philanthropy, and women’s and girls’ rights—to drive and celebrate change.
